This year just hasn’t let up has it? Ever since the death of David Bowie back in January, it seems like all our best and brightest celebrities have passed away all at once. We’ve lost Alan Rickman, Prince, Leonard Cohen, George Michael, Harper Lee, Gene Wilder, Muhammad Ali, and now, worst of all for all the world’s sci-fi fans, Carrie Fisher.
The actress, author and screenwriter was most famous for starring as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy. Besides Star Wars, she also starred in Shampoo, The Blues Brothers, Amazon Women On The Moon, When Harry Met Sally… and Drop Dead Fred. She was also the daughter of Debbie Reynolds, married to Paul Simon and penned several successful memoirs. Safe to say that she did it all.
But Fisher won’t just be remembered for her iconic performances: she’ll be sorely missed by her fans for her razor-sharp wit and hilarious sense of humour. Over the years she’s shown a lot of irreverence about her own fame and self-image, and even joked in her most recent book that, “I want it reported that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra.”
As an emotional tribute to our favourite princess’s brilliant repartee, a video has recently resurfaced on social media which shows Fisher roasting Star Wars creator George Lucas in the most savage way possible.
It’s like she’s fired the Death Star directly at George’s ego. Direct hit! Flick over to page two to check out the hero of the rebellion in action.
