Justin Bieber’s relationship with his avid fans has gone up and down over the years, to say the least. He’s enjoyed an almost fanatical level of adoration from his so-called Beliebers since he first became famous, and yet has appeared fractious in return at times, particularly recently.
First came an incident during a Bieber concert, when he asked fans to stop screaming after he was interrupted in the middle of a story. “Can you guys do me a favour? he asked, “I get it, I get it, but I’m like two feet away from you. And I can hear you. I appreciate all the love it’s amazing. But can you show it in a different way? Screaming is just so obnoxious.”
Then, more recently, Bieber found himself in hot water once again after an unfortunate episode with a fan in Australia. This time, the singer wasn’t onstage, but was approached by a fan on the streets of Melbourne and was apparently in no mood to stop and pose for photos, telling Sabah Helal, “You have no respect level. Look at you – you’re making me sick.”
A certain level of strain in the Bieber/Belieber relationship is not unprecedented. But now it appears that things are coming to a climax, after a court ruled in favour of a fan who sued him for cancelling all of his meet-and-greets with fans on his Purpose tour, which began in 2016.
